Saudi Red Sea Authority to sign MoU with NEOM to develop marine tourism regulations

The Saudi Red Sea Authority and NEOM signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday to cooperate on developing legislation, regulations, and technology in marine tourism, reported the Saudi Press Agency.The MoU’s goal is to enhance research, deliver innovation, and improve the visitor experience for tourists in Saudi Arabia’s existing, emerging, and future Red Sea coastal destinations.

NEOM's 'THE LINE' to continue as planned, no change in size

NEOM officials have finally responded to claims suggesting that “THE LINE” has been scaled down, Unilad reported.  'THE LINE' city is part of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s 2030 vision aimed at diversifying Saudi Arabia’s economy and reduce its dependence on oil. Reports first began emerging after Bloomberg suggested that, due to financial constraints, NEOM officials had decided to scale down the project by 98.6%.

Lieutenant General Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya, Director General of Passports (Jawazat), has visited NEOM – the sustainable development taking shape in northwest Saudi Arabia – this week. Received by NEOM CEO, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, Al-Yahya and his delegation toured NEOM Bay Airport, along with the project’s command-and-control center and other key NEOM facilities. Al-Yahya began his visit by taking in the expanded NEOM Bay Airport, where he was briefed on its latest technologies and initiatives, including its future contactless eGates for passport control. Saudi Arabia’s economy minister rejected recent reports that the kingdom’s $1.5 trillion NEOM megaproject, a futuristic desert development on the Red Sea coast, is scaling back some of its plans.  “All projects are moving full steam ahead,” Faisal Al Ibrahim told CNBC’s Dan Murphy on Monday at the World Economic Forum’s special meeting in Riyadh.

NEOM secures SAR 10 billion ($2.7bn) financing facility

NEOM today announced it has secured a new revolving credit facility (RCF) worth SAR 10 billion. It represents another milestone for NEOM as it progresses with the development of major projects and will be used to support NEOM’s short-term financing requirements.  The RCF, which follows a Murabaha structure, reflects a continuation of NEOM’s strategy to diversify its sources of funding.

Big spenders wanted for Sindalah Island when it opens later this year

Saudi Arabia plans to open the first region of its NEOM megacity by the end of the year. The island of Sindalah will provide the first physical glimpse into the ambitious desert project, which has reportedly been scaled back from its initial plans due to financial struggles. Developers say they want the island to be an "exclusive gateway to the stunning Red Sea," adding that they planned to cater to luxury clientele and the global yachting community.
