Officials behind the northwest Saudi megacity NEOM development have unveiled Aquellum, a luxury and experiential mountain visitor complex. The project, announced on Wednesday by its board of directors, is the latest addition to the multibillion-dollar ongoing regional development scheme.
Aquellum is the latest addition to NEOM‘s ongoing regional development in northwest Saudi Arabia. The striking new project nestles discreetly within the 450-meter-high mountain range along the Gulf of Aqaba coastline, revealing an experiential and subterranean digitalized community, subsumed in the Metaverse. Far from conventional, the destination meshes advanced technology, avant-garde architecture, and forward-looking concepts, promising guests a glimpse into futuristic living. Aquellum architect Tobias Wallisser describes it as an ‘ultra-luxury upside-down skyscraper. The facade’s facing inwards instead of facing outwards. Things are inside out and upside down.’
In a statement, NEOM said: “With its foundations steeped in cutting-edge technology, avant-garde architecture, and forward-thinking concepts, Aquellum will offer guests a taste of futuristic living through its array of pioneering experiences.”
To access Aquellum, visitors will embark on a journey beginning at a floating marina, where they will board a specially designed vessel to enter the destination through a concealed underground canal, “unveiling a hidden community that offers an incredible sensory journey.”
