There has been a lot of architecture news coming out of Saudi Arabia recently, little of which has been good. Now the jewel in the crown of the desert kingdom's ongoing transformation, the Line, appears to be facing a major rethink.
The original concept for the Line was simply incredible and would have consisted of a supertall skyscraper structure stretching 170 km (105 miles) across some of the world's harshest desert terrain to create a futuristic city. The scale of such a project is unprecedented in the modern era and would be up there with the pyramids of Giza and the Great Wall of China in terms of ambition.
KSA’s NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) has achieved financial close with 23 local, regional, and international banks and financial institutions for its USD 8.4 bn green hydrogen facility, according to a statement. The ambitious project — said to be the world’s largest green hydrogen production facility — will see some USD 6.1 bn provided in non-recourse financing by the banks and investment firms, it said. NGHC is a joint venture between NEOM, Acwa Power, and US-based gas supplier Air Products.
The city of Almaty in Kazakhstan has been announced as the new host of the 2029 Asian Winter Games, replacing the TROJENA ski resort in NEOM, Saudi Arabia.
A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Savvy Games Group and NEOM to streamline the journey of Saudi gaming startups from incubation to acceleration. This joint initiative aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s end-to-end gaming ecosystem and advance the goals of the National Gaming and Esports Strategy under Saudi Vision 2030.
