THE LINE, the flagship development in Saudi Arabia’s $500-billion mega-city project NEOM, will make use of artificial intelligence technology to the fullest, according to its CEO, Nadhmi Al Nasr.  While talking at the Global AI Summit on Sept. 13 in Riyadh, Al Nasr noted that the strategic works and the planning phase of NEOM were successful, and execution is progressing steadily. 

NEOM, the Saudi Arabian region that is aiming to become a major film and TV production hub, has announced the opening of its NEOM Media Village and Bajdah Desert Studios, comprising several sound stages and production support facilities. Situated along the kingdom’s Red Sea coast in Tabuk, in the northwest of the kingdom, NEOM is a sprawling area roughly the size of Belgium. Besides coral reefs and heritage sites, it also comprises mountains and generally has a cooler temperature than most of the region.

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has unveiled a new aircraft livery that celebrates the ambitious NEOM project, a sustainable regional development in northwest Saudi Arabia. Last May, NEOM entered into a strategic partnership with Saudia to conduct regular international flights from NEOM Bay Airport (NUM) to selected destinations, and to help it roll out further commercial services.

MBC Studios has started production of Saudi fantasy series “Rise of the Witches” with an all-local cast and crew. The high-end production division of the MBC Group stated that it is producing the show based on a novel by Saudi author Osamah Al-Muslim.

Saudi Arabia’s $500 billion mega project NEOM is considering the launch its own international carrier, Arabian Business understands. The airline – which would be the third Saudi carrier following on from Saudia and the soon to be launched RIA – would position the spectacular destination as a hub for international tourists, with direct flights to cities in Europe and Asia.

The aggregate value of property and infrastructure projects since the launch of Saudi Arabia’s National Transformation Plan in 2016 has crossed $1.1 trillion as the kingdom continues to diversify its economy, real estate consultancy Knight Frank said. The $500 billion futuristic NEOM city remains the biggest project on the list of 15 big developments at various phases of construction.

Designed from scratch to act as a new global industrial and commercial hub, the mega-development, called NEOM, will also serve as an economic engine for growth in the now-barren region. With half a trillion dollars and a fleet of the world's top consultants the Saudi Crown Prince hopes to redesign the way his citizens will live in the future. NEOM is being promoted as a showpiece urban trophy that will serve as a testbed for technologies that could revolutionize daily life in the future.
