Oracle has announced that NEOM Tech & Digital Company, the world-leading technology company powering the first cognitive digital ecosystem at NEOM, has selected Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud Customer to create a scalable, agile and modern platform for all mission-critical IT workloads. NEOM will be able to access Oracle’s portfolio of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) public cloud services and Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications to address local data residency and latency requirements and reduce operating costs for its 36MW ZeroPoint DC data centre.

Dubai developer URB announced on Thursday the launch of a green living development in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh with 11,000 residential units.

The smart city called ALNAMA, Arabic for ‘thrive,’ will see a 1,000-hectare plot transformed into a city that seeks to be a benchmark model for all future cities that aspire to promote greener economies centered around food, water, energy and waste.

The countdown is on to the first-ever double-header Extreme E event, as the championship returns to the Italian island of Sardinia for a summer showdown of back-to-back racing on July 6-7 and July 9-10.

NEOM’s title sponsorship of the Island X Prix follows the announcement that Extreme E has entered into a multi-year relationship with ENOWA, NEOM’s energy, water, and hydrogen subsidiary, to introduce green hydrogen power to their global sustainable racing series.

Schwarz reiterated that NEOM and Enowa, the firm’s energy, water and hydrogen subsidiary, will capitalise on innovations including artificial intelligence to achieve autonomous load balancing to manage and adapt to renewable energy volatility. “The key challenge for 100 per cent renewable energy is to balance it,” he explained.

Saudi Arabia's National Renewable Energy Programme aims to develop up to 58.7GW of renewable energy installed capacity by 2030.

The announcement comes just days after NEOM, a sustainable region in northwest Saudi Arabia being built from the ground up, was revealed as the title partner of the McLaren Formula E and Extreme E racing teams under the banner of ‘NEOM McLaren Electric Racing.’ 

If you’re looking for emerging markets in which to launch a startup, perhaps none is as ripe as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since the KSA joined the World Trade Organization in 2005 and modernized its trade policy to reflect global practice, foreign investment in the country has exploded.

McLaren will make its debut in Formula E later this year after announcing in May that it had purchased Mercedes’ entry, having previously announced plans to race in Extreme E from 2022.

NEOM, which is a new smart city that is funded by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia as part of its Vision 2030 programme, has previously enjoyed a partnership with Mercedes’ Formula E team, and has been tipped as a future location for a Formula E race.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, in cooperation with the Saudi British Business Council in London, organized on Friday 24th June a workshop themed "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: The Next Global Station for Mining", aimed at introducing investment opportunities in the mining sector.

Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef explained in his opening speech that the ministry is keen to create an attractive investment environment in the country.

Keller has signed an umbrella Framework Agreement for work on THE LINE, and is getting ready for the first works order. Keller estimates this work will have a value of around £50m, which it expects to complete within the next 12 months.  The company says it is “well positioned to participate in the future geotechnical work,” which has the potential to generate even greater revenue as the dream of the city becomes realised.
