Dubai developer announces 1,000-hectare green, smart city in Saudi capital Riyadh

Dubai developer URB announced on Thursday the launch of a green living development in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh with 11,000 residential units.

The smart city called ALNAMA, Arabic for ‘thrive,’ will see a 1,000-hectare plot transformed into a city that seeks to be a benchmark model for all future cities that aspire to promote greener economies centered around food, water, energy and waste.


Revamped Extreme E set for NEOM Island X Prix in Sardinia

The countdown is on to the first-ever double-header Extreme E event, as the championship returns to the Italian island of Sardinia for a summer showdown of back-to-back racing on July 6-7 and July 9-10.

NEOM’s title sponsorship of the Island X Prix follows the announcement that Extreme E has entered into a multi-year relationship with ENOWA, NEOM’s energy, water, and hydrogen subsidiary, to introduce green hydrogen power to their global sustainable racing series.


NEOM executive Thorsten Schwarz lays down NEOM energy plan

Schwarz reiterated that NEOM and Enowa, the firm’s energy, water and hydrogen subsidiary, will capitalise on innovations including artificial intelligence to achieve autonomous load balancing to manage and adapt to renewable energy volatility. “The key challenge for 100 per cent renewable energy is to balance it,” he explained.

Saudi Arabia's National Renewable Energy Programme aims to develop up to 58.7GW of renewable energy installed capacity by 2030.

Keller Group plc wins NEOM contract in Saudia Arabia for THE LINE

Keller has signed an umbrella Framework Agreement for work on THE LINE, and is getting ready for the first works order. Keller estimates this work will have a value of around £50m, which it expects to complete within the next 12 months.  The company says it is “well positioned to participate in the future geotechnical work,” which has the potential to generate even greater revenue as the dream of the city becomes realised.
