NEOM has a new head of tourism. Niall Gibbons has joined the US$500bn project from Tourism Ireland and fills a role that has been empty for over two years, last filled by Andrew McEvoy, who has since returned to Australia. Gibbons takes on one of the most high-profile positions in the company, leading the giga-roject’s tourism vision, which spans developments such as Sindalah and THE LINE.
Standard Chartered has provided the first-ever green guarantee for Larsen and Toubro’s (L&T) work on the NEOM Green Hydrogen Co (NGHC) megaproject in Saudi Arabia. The guarantee covers L&T Saudi Arabia’s involvement in designing, supplying locally, constructing, and commissioning renewable and grid packages. International supplies will be handled by L&T’s subsidiary, LTIFZE.
An exhibition showcasing Saudi Arabia’s lucrative NEOM smart city project will be held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on Wednesday that the Seoul NEOM exhibition will take place from July 26 to August 3.
Hitachi Energy, a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, has secured a major contract from Enowa and the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to design, develop and commission one of the world's first 3 GW, 525 kilovolt (kV) HVDC Light transmission systems in Saudi futuristic city NEOM. The ground-breaking deal inked with Enowa, the energy and water company of NEOM, and SEC will see Hitachi Energy design and develop the first phase of the visionary NEOM region transmission system, together with its consortium partner Saudi Services for Electro Mechanical Works (SSEM).
During the 20th Middle East annual conference organised by the London Business School Middle East Club, CEO Nadhmi Al-Nasr shared updates about Sindalah Island, a prominent marine tourism destination. Al-Nasr revealed that the Saudi island’s construction work is progressing rapidly and it is anticipated to welcome its inaugural visitors in the first quarter of 2024. This would make Sindalah the first region within NEOM to host guests.
NEOM and TELFAZ11 have announced a pivotal partnership that will see the creation of up to 9 TV and film productions over the next 3 years. The collaboration between NEOM and TELFAZ11 will accelerate the growth of NEOM’s media industries ecosystem, ensuring a rich pipeline of productions, including 2 feature films and 1 series currently in development under the new arrangement. Today’s announcement follows a recent drumbeat of high profile TELFAZ11 successes, including the debut of its latest theatrical feature film ‘Sattar,’ which has become the highest grossing Saudi film of all time.
Contractors will next month submit bids for a contract to build a utility tunnel that will connect the offshore elements of the port city OXAGON to the mainland as part of the NEOM megaproject in Saudi Arabia.
The design-and-build contract involves digging a 6.5m diameter tunnel using a tunnel boring machine (TBM) under the sea.
Hitachi Energy, a global technology leader advancing a sustainable energy future for all, has signed agreements under the supervision and management of the Ministry of Energy with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and with ENOWA. The agreements include the supply of three high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems to end customer ENOWA, the utility company for NEOM in Northwest Saudi Arabia. Built with sustainability in mind, NEOM is among Saudi Arabia’s Giga-Projects1 reshaping the future of development. The three HVDC links will have a total power capacity of up to 9 gigawatts (GW).

Located in the kingdom's northwest, NEOM is one of the world’s largest urbanization projects and will be a centre of world-leading innovation with a new model for how we live and develop sustainably.
Industrial Engineering Company for Construction and Development (ICON), listed on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), said that its subsidiary Prefabricated Buildings Development Industrial Co. Saudi Arabia won a contract for the NEOM project.
