Boskalis recently won a contract for a Red Sea port development to service the new futuristic city in Saudi Arabia. Early 2023, the Dutch giant was awarded “a significant contract for the development of a port on the Red Sea coastline of Saudi Arabia as the first step in the development of a new futuristic city,” the company said. The dredging scope will be executed with a mega cutter suction dredger and this project is expected to be completed by mid-2025.
Saudi Arabia’s NEOM has inked a deal with hospitality brand Marriot to open three new hotels at the new luxury island Sindalah – the first resort to open within the futuristic $500 billion mega business and tourism project. Sindalah – which will be approximately 840,000 square meters - aims to rival top global tourist destinations such as the likes of Monaco and Athens with its year-long luxury offerings. With its first visitors expected in early 2024, the new luxury tourist destination will be home to a vibrant, world-class marina and yacht club, located just 17 hours sail from the Mediterranean and featuring an 86-berth marina for yachts.
To meet the rapidly growing demand for its cloud services, Oracle announced plans to open a third public cloud region in Saudi Arabia. Located in Riyadh, the new cloud region will be part of a planned $1.5 billion investment from Oracle to expand cloud infrastructure capabilities in the Saudi Arabia. The Oracle Cloud Riyadh Region will join the existing Oracle Cloud Jeddah Region and the planned Oracle Cloud Region to be located in the futuristic city of NEOM.
NEOM is progressing fast, with 20 per cent of infrastructure already complete. The $500bn megacity development in north-west Saudi Arabia will eventually have a population of nine million people and be home to ambitious projects such as THE LINE, Sindalah and OXAGON.
Ultra-luxury yachting destination Sindalah has started hiring activity, marking the latest development in the NEOM careers drive to expand the gigaproject’s workforce. The Luxury Collection Red Sea Sindalah, The Autograph Collection Red Sea Sindalah, and The Luxury Collection Residences Red Sea Sindalah are all said to be hiring. They are the first hotel brands to be named for the exclusive gigaproject island and will be managed by Marriott International.
Saudi Arabia’s NEOM has partnered with CARE’s to develop the city’s culinary identity. The initiative aims to inspire a new generation of Saudi chefs to become change agents, creating exciting new dishes using fresh ingredients from their own regions. CARE’s is a global project founded by chefs Norbert Niederkofler and Paolo Ferretti. The partnership will see NEOM and CARE’s develop a manifesto for food-industry professionals, outlining the principles for sustainable gastronomy and food security, alongside educational initiatives and content to broaden understanding of healthy eating. It will also facilitate training opportunities and chef camps, as well as launch an award series to recognise leading examples of innovation in food systems.

Collective Retreats announced a partnership with NEOM to open an ultra-sustainable retreat in Saudi’s snow-capped mountain destination, TROJENA, on Thursday. Slated to open in 2026, Collective TROJENA will offer guests access to the outdoor hospitality experience. The retreat has over 60 open-air rooms, dramatic water features, campfires, culinary experiences and meeting spaces. Collective TROJENA will also launch activities at the destination including skiing, snowboarding, high-altitude training, mountain biking, paragliding, hiking and more.
NEOM, a $500 billion futuristic city which is taking shape in Saudi Arabia, is looking to hire talent from the world over, ahead of its opening. With the megaproject being the host for the Asian Winter Games in 2030, to signing on new partners, among many such advancements, NEOM is currently recruiting and hiring candidates across various sectors. This includes architecture, engineering, marketing, finance, sports, technology, public safety, and more.
Nearly 20 per cent of infrastructure works at NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s USD 500 billion futuristic cities, that will be powered entirely by clean energy, will be free of cars and will have no streets or zero carbon emissions, has already been completed, and works are progressing according to schedule, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, NEOM’s CEO has said.
