Alstom has formalised a five-year Technical Support and Spare Part Supply Agreement (TSSSA) with the Saudi Railway Company (SAR), valued at SAR 300M (£63.5M). This agreement was unveiled during the Saudi Rail Exhibition and is aimed at bolstering the operation of the critical east-west freight corridor, integral to Saudi Arabia’s economic growth.
The TSSSA will see Alstom provide comprehensive technical assistance to SAR, including a consistent supply of spare parts essential for the maintenance and operation of the railway fleet, as well as targeted training for SAR personnel.
The east-west railway itself is crucial for facilitating the movement of goods across Saudi Arabia, connecting key logistics points such as the ports of Dammam and Jubail with the Riyadh dry port. Investments and enhancements to this corridor are directly linked to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 ambition of establishing itself as a central logistics hub, which aligns with broader goals of sustainable development and economic diversification.
