During the first China-Arab States Summit last week, Sungrow signed a battery storage supply agreement for NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s new ‘smart city’ megadevelopment. The summit on 9 December, attended by Chinese premier Xi Jinping and leaders of 21 Arab League countries, aimed to reinforce ties between the nations and increase cooperation in areas including economic development and building links between communities. Its outcome included Chinese and Saudi Arabian and Saudi organisations signing 34 agreements for various energy, security, investment, and other initiatives.

Acwa Power, a leading Saudi developer, investor, and operator of power generation, water desalination and green hydrogen plants worldwide, has signed an agreement with top solar group Sungrow Power Supply, to provide a 536MW/600MWh energy storage system to be set up at Saudi futuristic city NEOM.
Saudi Arabia will soon be home to a seahorse-shaped island in 2024 – Sindalah. The island will be off the coast of the development, the kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced earlier in December.
MIT’s Technology Review reviewed satellite images of THE LINE’s construction site from an Australian company called Soar, with a photo of the main base camp having been taken by a satellite from Chang Guang Satellite Technology Corporation on October 22, 2022. Egypt-based Engineering Consultants Group (ECG) announced that it has been selected by Beijing Emirates International Construction Company (BEC Arabia) to design a multi-purpose hall project for Saudi giga project NEOM.
The design-build project will occupy a plot with a total area of 21,143 square metres (sqm) in the southwest part of the NEOM site and will have a total Built-up Area (BUA) of 2,686 sqm, ECG said in a statement.
