Nearly 20 per cent of infrastructure works at NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s USD 500 billion futuristic cities, that will be powered entirely by clean energy, will be free of cars and will have no streets or zero carbon emissions, has already been completed, and works are progressing according to schedule, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, NEOM’s CEO has said.
NEOM has kicked off its Discover NEOM KSA tour in Jeddah, where it organized meetings with local investors, potential business partners and stakeholders from multiple industries. The tour, which will take place in cities in around the Kingdom, forms part of NEOM’s ongoing efforts to promote investment opportunities and highlight the rapid progress it has been making across its various sectors.
Aiming to boost the delivery of its Artificial Intelligence capabilities, TONOMUS, a subsidiary of NEOM, has tied up with Oracle and NVIDIA. NEOM is a $500 billion planned smart city in Tabuk Province in northwestern Saudi Arabia. The collaboration is expected to give a fillip to the delivery of "groundbreaking AI capabilities across NEOM and Saudi Arabia," said a news release.
Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Media Village has officially opened the doors to its second soundstage, bringing the total number of operational stages in the NEOM region to four (two sit in NEOM’s Bajdah Desert Studios). The second stage within the Media Village sits at the same 2,400 square meters capacity as its first stage and is equipped with state-of-the art technology and back-of-house facilities including make-up rooms, green rooms and production offices.

Engineering services firm Jacobs and Saudi Arabia project management company Jasara are the latest companies to be appointed to provide consultancy services for a linear city that forms part of the NEOM development in Saudi Arabia. Jacobs and Jasara will provide project and construction management consultancy services for the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the Line, together with the management of the critical interfaces between it and adjacent NEOM projects and logistics.
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has announced the launch of the New Murabba Development Co. which is set to transform downtown Riyadh through the building of a unique living, working, and entertainment experience. The New Murabba project will be built around the concept of sustainability by featuring green areas and walking and cycling paths that will enhance the quality of life by promoting healthy lifestyles and community activities. Saudi Arabia’s NEOM could emerge as a surprise host of the Winter Olympics, according to the UK’s Independent newspaper. Following Qatar’s successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup and amid repeated bids from within the region for the Summer Olympics to be held in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia has been named as a potential host for the Winter Olympic games. The links emerge as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) struggles to find a host willing and able to host future events.
NEOM is looking to seafood as it eyes a sustainable and self-sufficient future of food production in Saudi Arabia. NEOM is teaming up with the Arabian Agricultural Services Company (ARASCO) and Cargill to develop sustainable aquaculture sector and achieve protein self-sufficiency by 2030. The three parties will work together to explore and scale up sustainable ways to meet rising domestic demand for aquaculture, including through research and development into more sustainable feed sources.
