The Middle East has many architectural marvels already. Joining the list now is Saudi Arabia's massive linear city, THE LINE. Its construction is currently underway as revealed by the drone footage that surfaced on social media. This 500-metre tall mirrored linear city is now under construction. This footage by @otskydrone captured part of the massive site that will eventually stretch for 170-kilometres across the desert.
In the video, the excavators can be seen digging wide trenches in the desert. The city aims to rehabilitate 9 million people; it is situated in the West Asian country’s northwest Tabuk province and is a 170-kilometre-long, 500-metre-tall city. The city also boasts a mirrored wall on either side completely reflecting the desert.
The city will be powered by renewable energy, including wind, solar and hydrogen power and will reportedly become the first city in the world to be powered by renewable energy. Lush vegetation will be planted throughout the city to promote coexistence with nature and create a temperate climate.
